Road station

Sublubatia

bei Viglione [2]

Listen to the story

Sublubatia, Sub Lupatia in a Roman register of routes, was a station on the road from Venusia to Tarentum, near Viglione in Apulia. Its name probably means below Lupatia, a place that the list of places compiled in Ravenna seems to name separately as Lupitia. On the map the branch towards Tarentum ought to start here, but that line and its next station, together with the distance, are missing.
