Maio Meduaco

Dolo or Sambruson (Barrington)

Listen to the story

Maio Meduaco means at the greater Meduacus, and the next station is at the lesser one: the road from Padua towards the lagoon crossed two branches of this river system, now the Brenta and the Bacchiglione, and each crossing became a station on the map. This one lay near Dolo or Sambruson on the Brenta. The Roman writer Pliny knew both rivers and the harbour they formed at the edge of the lagoon.
