Luteci

Paris

Lvteci is Lutetia, Paris, and on the map it is only a plain name without a symbol, a road station like many others. The town began on an island in the Seine, where a trade road crossed the river, and it burned in 52 BC during Caesar's war. Under the emperors it spread onto the left bank, with a forum, baths, a theatre and an amphitheatre, and its Seine boatmen had their own guild. The emperor Julian spent the winter of 357 in what he called his dear Lutetia. Later the town took the name of its people, the Parisii.
