Bonconica

Nierstein? (Barrington) · Oppenheim (Miller)

Bonconica is Bauconica, a station on the road along the left bank of the Rhine at Nierstein or Oppenheim in Germany. Between the two towns a spring sacred to the goddess Sirona was found in 1803, together with an inscription and a great many coins. The Roman register of routes spells the name Bauconica or Bouconica; the map, as elsewhere, has turned a small u into an n. The next stretch, on to Worms, has no marked start on the map.
