Bolentio

Listen to the story
Bolentio, the Roman Bolentium, was a place to change horses on the road along the Drava, just inside Upper Pannonia: the pilgrim from Bordeaux notes that after Marinianae, the neighbouring stop, one entered that province. Its site is unknown, somewhere in the area of Moslavina in Croatia; older research pointed to ruins near Sopje. The Greek geographer Ptolemy lists it as Bolention. The map sets Bolentio ten Roman miles from Sirotis and ten from Marinianae, where the pilgrim counts nine.
