Botivo

Ludbreg

Listen to the story

Botivo is Iovia, today Ludbreg in Croatia: a Roman register of routes and the pilgrim from Bordeaux, who calls it a city, use the name Iovia, while this map and the list of places compiled in Ravenna call it Botivo. It is not the Iovia that the map names a few stations further on. On the map the station sits awkwardly: the stretch on to Sonista has no starting mark, though it could easily have been drawn in the regular way. The map sets Botivo eight Roman miles from Populi and nine from Sonista.
