Blinca

Viliñjam?

Blinca is equated with Balita, a coastal place that a Greek handbook for sea traders names between the port of Bakare and Kolchoi, on the stretch of south Indian shore called Paralia. Today it is tentatively placed at Vizhinjam. Older research corrected the name to Balinga and recognised it in a harbour called Bilinjam, south of Kochi and Kollam, in an Arabic and Turkish sailors' guide; Arab geographers from the ninth century onwards also knew it, as Balinq and Bilinz. The Ravenna list spells it exactly like the map.
