Ariolica

La Pacaudière

Three roads meet at Ariolica on the map: the road from Lyon comes in, one line runs on towards Clermont, and a link branches off to Sitillia. The list of places compiled in Ravenna writes the name as Avigilia. Where the station lay is disputed. Older research favoured Avrilly on the Loire, whose distances seemed to fit; Arfeuille, Charlieu and Roure were also suggested, and the current identification is La Pacaudière. One older scholar even denied that any Roman road crossed the Forez hills here.
