Arenatio

Rindern bei Kleve

Arenatio is Arenacum, most likely Rindern near Kleve in Germany, on the road along the left bank of the lower Rhine. The Roman historian Tacitus tells that during the revolt of the Batavians, in the winter of 70, the Tenth Legion was stationed here, in the land of the Batavians, and many tiles stamped by the legions have been found at Rindern, though the fort itself has not yet been located. Older research also looked for Arenacum at Arnhem. On the map the road on to Burginatio is drawn as two stretches instead of one.
