Road station

unnamed/illegible, no. ID 3762

Seven Roman miles after Ad Rotas, on the way into Aesernia, today Isernia in Molise in Italy, the map's road drops by a nameless step right in front of the town's picture. It is not a lost station but a matter of drawing: the copyist wanted neither a curved line nor a road that ran into the roof of the little building, so he stepped it down to meet the house front. The map spells the town's name Esernie.
