Road station

unnamed/illegible, no. ID 3760

On the Via Appia between Tres Tabernae, the Three Taverns, and Forum Appii, the map sets a small step without a name between the two towns' pictures. It lets the road pass without striking the hills or the corner of Forum Appii's little building, and without a curve. One might imagine a bridge station here, over the river that crosses the road, but none is recorded, and the ten Roman miles the map gives match the Roman register of routes exactly for the whole stretch, leaving no room for another stop.
