Road station

unnamed/illegible, no. ID 3761

This is the second of two nameless steps on the road from Interpromium to Corfinium in the Abruzzo in Italy. It follows the first after seven Roman miles and lies directly in front of Corfinium's town symbol. Once more the copyist avoided a curve or a slanting line, and brought the road in at the level of the eaves instead of running it into the roof. Between them, the two steps turn what was one straight road into a small staircase on the parchment.
