Road station
unnamed/illegible, no. ID 3701
After Interpromium, in the Abruzzo in Italy, the road on the map climbs in two little steps before it reaches the next town symbol, and the first step has no name. Like its neighbour, it marks no lost station. The mapmaker, short of space around Interpromium, seems to have stepped the line to get round Marruvium, which was already drawn, while avoiding both a curve and a slanting line, which he generally shunned. The step gives room for nothing but a distance figure: seven Roman miles.
