Ponte Augusti

Marga?

Ponte Augusti, at the emperor's bridge, was a post and customs station at Marga in the Romanian Banat, where the road from Tibiscum crossed the Bistra before taking the only practicable pass into Transylvania, towards Sarmizegetusa. Inscriptions name the overseer of the customs post, a guild of makers of leather bags and a temple of the goddess Nemesis, and there are traces of gold mining nearby. Older research thought the bridge was the one shown on Trajan's Column. The map sets Ponte Augusti eight Roman miles from Agnaviae and fifteen from Sarmizegetusa.
