Ponte Aluti

Ioneştii Govorii

Ponte Aluti, at the bridge over the Olt, was a Roman military post with a civilian settlement at Ionești-Govora in Romania; up to here the road ran on the right bank of the river, and further upstream on the left. A cohort raised in Gaul was stationed in the camp, and Dacians later settled around it. A hoard of one hundred and fifty-two coins, from Caracalla to Philip the Arab, has been found here. The map sets Ponte Aluti fourteen Roman miles from Rusidava and thirteen from Burridava.
