Petrensibus

Vilsübergang bei Vilshofen

Petrensibvs is how older research restores a name that is badly damaged on the map: only the first letter, P, and the ending, sibus, can be read clearly, with a brown stain on the parchment between them. It used to be read as Pontibus Isarensibus, At the Isar Bridges, near Plattling, but the distances rule that out, and the station is now looked for at the crossing of the Vils near Vilshofen in Bavaria. It lies thirty-two Roman miles from Sorviodurum and eighteen from Boiodurum.
