Ludnam

zwischen Villefranche und St. Georges de Reneins

Ludnam lay on the road from Mâcon to Lyon, and older research placed it at the Tournelles de Flandres between Villefranche and Saint-Georges-de-Reneins, where Roman ruins came to light when the railway was built. One study argued that the town was destroyed in the third century, its coins ending with the emperor Trajan Decius, and refounded further north at Belleville as the Lunna of the Roman register of routes; a modern atlas likewise marks Ludna and Lunna as two separate places. Others preferred Saint-Jean-d'Ardières.
