Interamnio

Terni

Listen to the story

Interamnio is Interamna Nahars, now Terni, set between two arms of the river Nar. An inscription of 32 AD counts seven hundred and four years since the town's founding, which points to 672 BC, and remains of a settlement of just that time have been found. Under the emperor Tiberius it gained a large amphitheatre, and the town claims as its sons the emperor Tacitus and, by tradition, the historian of the same name.
