Interpromium

(near Torre de’ Passeri) (Barrington)

Listen to the story

Interpromium, near Torre de' Passeri on the middle Aterno, grew from a rural district of the Paeligni into a proper village, a vicus, with an amphitheatre and a public office for checking weights. An inscription naming the district was found in the church of San Clemente a Casauria, an abbey founded in 873. On the map the name is heavily abbreviated: a raised flourish stands for two letters, and a little tail on the p for two more.
