Etanna

Yenne

Etanna was a station of the Allobroges on the road from Aoste to Geneva, at Yenne on the left bank of the Rhône, or at the hamlet of Étain just outside it. It flourished from the second to the sixth century, and an inscription confirms the Roman settlement. The list of places compiled in Ravenna may name it as Tenusilay, though the match is uncertain, and one older scholar wondered whether the true name was Eiauna.
