Cucullae

Kuchl an der Salzach

Listen to the story

Cucullae is Kuchl on the Salzach, south of Salzburg, the late Roman fort of Cucullis, which Saint Severinus visited in the troubled fifth century, as his biographer Eugippius tells. A milestone found here counts fifteen Roman miles from Iuvavum, the Roman Salzburg, while the map gives fourteen, about twenty-one kilometres.
