Crusa

Livadostro

Crusa is Creusis, the fortified harbour of Thespiae on the Gulf of Corinth, at Livadostro in Greece, where remains of a fortress with a quay survive. The name already appears on Mycenaean tablets in Linear B. Spartan armies used the port in their wars with Thebes before 371 BC, and in the second and first centuries BC it was an important landing place for Rome. The Greek writer Pausanias warns that the sea route to Creusis from the Peloponnese is winding and seldom calm.
