Cetrora

Chabis (Miller)

Cetrora is known from this map alone, and where it stood has been argued over since the 19th century. One view puts it at Yazd, though Yazd is usually equated with Issatis, and Arab geographers give the city an older name, Kaththa. A more plausible match is Hora in a late Roman account of Alexander's march, the modern Shahdad, also called Chabis, in Kerman province, which appears as Khabis on a map by the Arab geographer al-Idrisi. The name itself, apparently from Seleucid times, remains hard to explain, and the location hypothetical.
