Catualium

vmtl. Haelen (Miller)

Catvalivm is Catualium, a station on the road from Nijmegen to Tongeren in the Dutch province of Limburg, probably at Haelen across the Maas from Roermond. Its site has never been certain: Kessel, Horn and Weert have all been proposed. One early scholar even wanted to correct the name to Castellum and identify it with the fort of the Menapii mentioned by the Greek geographer Ptolemy. Nothing else is known of the place.
