Blaboriciaco

Enns a. d. Donau

Listen to the story

Blaboriciaco is a garbled Lauriacum, now Enns-Lorch in Upper Austria, where the Enns flows into the Danube. Under Commodus or Septimius Severus it became the base of the Second Italian Legion, whose fortress of some twenty hectares has been largely excavated, beside a thriving civilian town with a forum, baths and temples. Late Roman Lauriacum also had a shield factory and a river fleet, and here in 304 AD Saint Florian was martyred.
