Bistuae Vetus

? Duvno, heute Tomislavgrad

Bistuae Vetus, Old Bistua, was a town in the mountains of inland Dalmatia, most often placed at Tomislavgrad, the former Duvno, in Bosnia. Its site has long been argued over: older research looked near Kupres, at Varvara or even at Zenica, and inscriptions naming the municipium of the Bistuenses cannot be tied to either Bistua with certainty. The map adds a New Bistua further on, perhaps founded on the huge territory of the old town. The list of places compiled in Ravenna garbles the second word as betus.
