Road station

Biston

Gradac, Kroatien

Biston, a station on the coastal road from Salona to Narona in Dalmatia, is marked on the Tabula by a small drawing of a house with no name beside it; the name comes from a list of places compiled in Ravenna. The house probably signalled a place where travellers could stop and find shelter. Older research sought the station near Baška Voda, but today it is generally placed at Gradac in Croatia. Here the road line simply breaks off, and beside the drawing a river called Drinum runs into the Adriatic, although in reality the Drava and Sava flow into the Danube.
