Auxenna

Evergnicourt

Avxenna is Axuenna, the crossing of the Aisne at Évergnicourt in northern France, on the road from Bavay to Reims; remains of a Roman bridge have been noted there. The name seems to be another form of the river's own name, Axona, the Aisne, and the same name was given to a second crossing of the river on the road from Reims to Metz. The Roman register of routes garbles it into Muenna. On the same road, at Brimont, a milestone counts its leagues from the city of the Remi, Reims.
