Varatedo
Vayres
Varatedo is Vayres, on the Dordogne, where the road from Bordeaux to Périgueux crossed the river, in the land of the Bituriges Vivisci. The map is its only source, and the name is hard to read: an inspection of the parchment itself in 2001 could only just make out the letters after the V as i, r, a. No distance is given from Bordeaux, and the eighteen written towards Coutras is probably the whole distance from Bordeaux to Coutras, which puts Varatedo about halfway, at the river crossing.
