Vallis

Sidi-Mediene

Listen to the story

Vallis, the valley, lay at Sidi Mediene in Tunisia, near the forty-seventh milestone from Carthage, where its town wall and a great temple still stand. It began as a native community beside which Roman settlers formed a district of their own, then became a municipium and in the third century a Roman colony; its bishops are recorded in 411 and 525 AD. The map sets it ten Roman miles from Ad Atticillae and six from Thurris.
