Romesiana
Bela Palanka
Romesiana is Remesiana, today Bela Palanka in Serbia, a town on the military road from Naissus towards Serdica and Constantinople, where the pilgrim from Bordeaux stopped for the night. It was a bishop's seat, with bishops recorded in 398 and 448, and the Byzantine historian Procopius mentions its territory. The map sets Romesiana twenty-four Roman miles, about thirty-five kilometres, from Naissus and twenty-five from Turres, where the other road lists count only eighteen.
