Lezela

Listen to the story

The beginning of Lezela's name is lost on the parchment. The early printed editions of 1598 and 1753 read an L, but a close inspection of the parchment in 2003 suggested that two letters once stood there, both now beyond recovery. The name stands a little apart from the road, and older research looked for the place at Lenkoran on the Caspian Sea or further south. The figure of nine miles beside it may lead to a stop marked only by a symbol, though no road line is drawn for that stretch.
