Road station

Levefano

Wageningen (Miller) · Wijk bij Duurstede · Rijswijk (Barrington)

Levefano is Levefanum, a station on the road along the Rhine in the Netherlands whose site is still disputed. A modern atlas points to Wijk bij Duurstede or Rijswijk, while older research preferred Wageningen, or Dodewaard across the river, where an inscription and the camp of a cavalry regiment of Africans were found. The Greek geographer Ptolemy may list it as Leuphana, and the list of places compiled in Ravenna garbles it to Evitano. Some have read the name as the shrine of a goddess Leva.
