Island

Insula Boaris

(Straits of Bonifacio) (Barrington)

Listen to the story

Older research placed Insula Boaris on two uninhabited rocks off the south-western tip of Sardinia, near Sulci, known as the Bull and the Cow, since their names seemed to fit. That match was later judged impossible. The island is paired with another small island, Bovenna, in a list of places compiled in Ravenna, and it most probably lay off Sardinia's northern tip, in the Strait of Bonifacio. Its exact position is still unknown.
