Mountain

Ida

Listen to the story

Ida, the mountain above Troy, now the Kaz Dağı in Turkey, carries its name in a way unusual for the map: small, thin letters set inside the mountain symbol itself, which is left uncoloured. No one can tell whether the copyist of around 1200 wrote them or a later hand, nor whether the name was added to the map or merely restored after being overlooked in the copying.

Fully based on scientific information from TP-Online (KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt).
