Icorigium
Jünkerath
Icorigivm is Icorigium, today Jünkerath in the Eifel in Germany, where the road from Trier to Cologne crossed the river Kyll; its name shows that the place is older than the Romans. From the first century narrow houses lined the road on both sides, their short ends to the street. After the Germanic raids of the third century the village was rebuilt in the time of Constantine as a small round fort with thirteen round towers and two gates, and it was given up towards the end of the fourth century. Grave reliefs built into its walls show scenes from the daily life of the Moselle country.
