Road station
Ilio
Despotikon, vormals Kretsounitsa?
Ilio is drawn just beyond a nameless river, the Aous, on the road from Hadrianopolis into Epirus, and it bears the same name as Troy, Ilion, which the map also shows. Its site is uncertain, perhaps on the ridge above Despotiko in the Greek part of Epirus; older research suggested Kalpaki. The Roman historian Livy mentions a plain where a Roman army camped for a few days, perhaps called Eleon, which some connect with this place. The next station on the map has no name at all.
