Im Monte Grani

perhaps on Via Valeria? (Barrington)

Listen to the story

In monte grani was a stop high on a mountain, where the Via Valeria began its climb over the long ridge of Monte Bove above Carsoli; near Colli the mountain is bare grey rock, and remains of the Roman road are still visible. Together with the next station, on the charcoal mountain, it marks the two ends of this pass. The name is otherwise unknown, and the list of places compiled in Ravenna shortens it to Rane.
