River

Fl. Torrens

Wadi Tammet oder Tamot

Listen to the story

Torrens, Latin for a rushing stream, is a name scholars have given to this river, which the map itself leaves unnamed. It flows towards the Great Syrtis, the wide gulf on the Libyan coast, and is usually identified with the Wadi Tammet, the most important river on that shore. The map draws it as a side arm of the main Torrens, so the stream seems to reach the sea through two mouths. Scholars also suggest two separate rivers, one of them the Wadi Gabeibah, which ends at the station of Macomades.
