River

Flumen Be

Wadi Bei el-Kebir

Listen to the story

A river winding down to the coast is drawn here with the label Flumen Be, reaching the sea beside the road station Ad Ficum, "at the fig tree". It is probably the Wadi Bei el-Kebir in Libya, whose modern name still seems to echo the ancient one. Apart from the map, the river turns up only in a list of places compiled in Ravenna, and there in a garbled form.
