Chisiduo

Crich-el-Oued

Listen to the story

Chisiduo, also written Thisiduo, lay at Krich el-Oued in Tunisia. The Roman historian Sallust mentions the town, as Tisidium, in the war against the Numidian king Jugurtha: from here the Roman commander Metellus marched out to punish the town of Vaga for its treachery. It later became a municipium. The map sets it eight Roman miles from Membrissa and four from Thurris, though the start of that last stretch is not marked.
