Bersovia
Berzovia
Bersovia, the Berzobis of Trajan's own account of his Dacian war, lay by the river Bârzava near Berzovia in the Romanian Banat. One of the few surviving sentences of the emperor's memoir mentions it: from there we advanced to Berzobis, then to Aizis. The river still carries the old name, which older research took to mean birch brook. Roman walls, foundations and baths have been excavated here, along with tiles of a legion. The map sets Bersovia twelve Roman miles from Centum Putea and twelve from Azizis.
