Augusta Magus

Senlis

Augusta Magus is Augustomagus, the Field of Augustus, today Senlis in the Oise department of France, the chief town of the Silvanectes. Parts of its Roman town walls still stand. A bishop of Senlis attended the council of Orléans in 511, and later the town simply took the name of its people. The Roman road towards Beauvais has been traced across the Oise, and a milestone near the crossing was still kept in 1750.
