The map writes only Aquis, 'at the waters', beside a bath drawing, and a tear in the parchment has probably taken the rest of the name. The usual completion is Aquis Convenarum, the waters of the Convenae, a people of the Pyrenees, attractive but impossible to confirm. The spa is placed at Capvern or at Bagnères-de-Bigorre, where one of the springs is still called the Roman spring and an inscription names the villagers as the people of the waters.
