Aquis Bormonis

Bourbon-Lancy

Listen to the story

Aquis Bormonis, the waters of Bormo, takes its name from Borvo or Bormo, a Gaulish god, and so do the French spa towns called Bourbon. It lay on the road from Autun to Orléans and is usually placed at Bourbon-Lancy, where an inscription names Bormo together with the goddess Damona. Others prefer Bourbon-l'Archambault, the town that later gave the royal house of Bourbon its name. The map marks it as a spa.
