Ad Turres
Crikvenica-Selce
Listen to the story
Ad Turres lay at Crikvenica on the Croatian coast, on the Roman road along the shore of Liburnia. From the first century BC it was a regional centre: excavations have found large pottery workshops, among them that of a potter named Sextus Metilius Maximus, together with the ruins of villas and an inscription dedicated to Mithras. The name means at the towers, and the map has several places so called; the list of places compiled in Ravenna shortens it to Turres.
