Ad Solaria

Chiavari?

Listen to the story

Squeezed onto the same road line as its neighbour Ricina, Ad Solaria lost its first letter to the same damage in the parchment, and older copies are needed to read it. The station lay near Chiavari on the Ligurian coast road, and its name, at the sundials, probably comes from an inn sign, or simply from a sunny spot. The map's six Roman miles to the next station, Ad Monilia, are far too few; perhaps a ten has dropped out.
