Ad Sextum means at the sixth, that is, at the sixth milestone, yet the station lay much further than six miles from Siena, near Papena where the road from the coast crossed the Feccia. Perhaps the full name was at the sixteenth, and the map's figures seem to have swapped a sixteen and a six. Small Etruscan cemeteries line the old road here.
