Ad Fines

Buševac near Velika Gorica · Degoj (TIR)

Listen to the story

Ad Fines lay near Velika Gorica in Croatia, perhaps at Buševac, or at Degoj on the Kupa, twenty Roman miles before Siscia, the Roman Sisak. Its name means at the boundary, and the map has several places so called. Which boundary it marked is disputed: one view sees here the border between Pannonia and Dalmatia, older research a boundary of Italy moved here under Hadrian. The map sets Ad Fines fourteen Roman miles from Quadrata.
