Skradin
Listen to the story
Sardona is a copyist's slip for Scardona, today Skradin in Croatia, capital of the Liburnians and seat of a court district for the Iapodes and Liburni. The town stood on the right bank of the Krka, about twelve Roman miles from its mouth, as far as the river was navigable, and under the Flavian emperors became a municipium, a self-governing Roman town. The map sets it on a straightened coast in the middle of Liburnia and leaves the river out, perhaps to stress its rank. The eleven miles to the next stop fit no known place, so a station has probably dropped out.
